step 1 create a business portfolio navigate to business facebook com and log in using your facebook account credentials to create the business account in the left hand side panel, select settings establish a business portfolio, which will be associated with your applications and whatsapp configuration step 2 create a meta app access developers facebook com if you do not have a developer account, create one now in the top right corner, click my apps → create app input a name for your app in the use cases step, select other and proceed by clicking next for app type, opt for business in the app details step, select the previously created business portfolio from the dropdown menu after the app has been created, you will be redirected to the add products page select whatsapp as the product to integrate you will now be directed to your app dashboard step 3 set up whatsapp api in the left hand panel, click on api setup generate an access token for temporary testing purposes a test phone number will be provided to you optionally, you may add your own phone number, which will require verification through a whatsapp otp you will now have phone number id business id these identifiers are required for both the whatsapp trigger node and thewhatsapp business node step 4 configure the whatsapp trigger node the trigger node necessitates additional configuration generate and download your project from simplita and ensure it is operational locally as meta does not support localhost for webhooks, employ ngrok to expose your local server step 5 install and configure ngrok download ngrok for windows install from the microsoft store alternatively, download directly from https //ngrok com/download sign up for an ngrok account, and log in in the left hand side panel, click on your authtoken and copy it open powershell (windows) execute the following command ngrok config add authtoken your authtoken here start ngrok by running ngrok http 8000 this action exposes your local server on port 8000 to the internet you will receive a public url (e g , https //random id ngrok free app) step 6 connect ngrok with whatsapp webhooks copy the public ngrok url and replace http //localhost 8000 in your whatsapp trigger node webhook url example replace http //localhost 8001/webhook/whatsapp/whatsapp trigger 1759150332381 with https //random id ngrok free app/webhook/whatsapp/whatsapp trigger 1759150332381 input this ngrok url into the meta configuration section for whatsapp in meta's console, navigate to the configuration section in the left side panel ) provide the verify token from your whatsapp trigger node click verify (ensure that your backend is running at localhost 8000; otherwise, verification will not succeed) once the verification is successful, subscribe to all webhook options in the configuration section ✅ at thi s stage, your whatsapp integration is successfully established incoming whatsapp messages will be forwarded to your backend via the ngrok url your backend can respond utilizing the whatsapp business api
